Curious Collector Mobile App
Responsibility:
Mobile App Design & Development
The Curious Collector mobile app was developed to highlight the weird, strange, wonderful, and sometimes frankly odd objects and artworks Hull Museums have in their collections. Taking in Hull Maritime Museum, Ferens Art Gallery, Hull and East Riding Museum, Streetlife Museum, Wilberforce House, Hull History Centre and Burton Constable Hall, the Curious Collector app helps you hunt out and collect artefacts via your mobile phone.
We built the Curious Collector app to offer the best user experience (UX) possible. As it would be used by children a well as adults the user interface has been designed for easy navigation. All the objects can be searched for by venue or via an interactive map. Once you have found your curiosity in a gallery or museum you can scan the associated QR code with the apps built in QR scanner. This will mark the object as collected within the app. There is also a feature that allows you to add favourite object to you very own cabinet of curiosities.
The app is available for Apple and Android.
Also see Moth Collector and Hull 100 for other examples of mobile app design.
